Yeah everything in Job checks out though.
No one can accurately date the pyramids or egyptian history because its so messed up. |

That is just your opinion, right? You do not know of an actual egyptologist that makes this claim?

As I believe you once asked me, (though in not as many words): Reference? Aside from the work itself.

Are you claiming that god lied to Mohammed?

Alternatively, Mo was lying, but that raises another interesting theological question.
If Mo could lie to such lengths without GOD punishing him, how can we possibly "know" what other prophets were doing the same thing, just to make themselves interesting? ![]() |

I don't know why you would chose Job, since that book specifically says that Earth rests on pillars: Job 9:6 Which shaketh the earth out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble.Heaven also rests on pillars: Job 26:11 The pillars of heaven tremble and are astonished at his reproof.Earth has foundations that are fastened: Job 38:4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding. The Earth is fixed and the Sun moves around the Earth; Job 9:7 Which commandeth the sun, and it riseth not; and sealeth up the stars. So all of the millions and millions of various species' of the planet were contained on a boat? without it sinking?...
Food?... Water?... Oh, and the inherent problems to be found in all the species of earth being the result of only a single pair. The genetic mutations which would result from the interbreeding would be incredible in scale. Oh, wait. I know the answer. "magic." (or rather, "god". Same thing. Both don't exist.) |

I was under the impression religious people took the story of Noah metaphorically.
I do not wish to sit and insult peoples beliefs, however this story cannot be true as stated in the bible. The physical dimensions of the ark stated are wildly underestimated due to the lack of knowledge as to the number of destinct individual species on earth known at the time the story was written. On the other hand the true dimensions the ark would have needed to be are physically impossible. By a massive, massive margin. EDIT: I notice someone stated we dont know the age of the pyramids in Egypt. Where did you get this information ? The age of the great pyramid is known very accurately, not only through dating methods, but its written in hyroglyphs on the bloody pyramid itself. The Egyptians did record time remember. They very accurately state the date of completion as what would now be 2560 B.C Wildly inaccurate statement. |

The Egyptians used a dating system based on the year of the reigning king, so if you do not know exactly how many kings come after the even you want to know the precise date for, or if you do not know how long each of the ruled, it is a difficult task to put precise dates on Egyptian events. The number of Egyptian kings is constantly revised, as new kings are recognised (rare) or existing kings are being shown to be local, co-existing rulers, or to be non-existent figments of imagination in the mind of an ancient historian. But still, egyptologists are doing a pretty good job here and there is some confidence in the dating system. ------------ "There really is a Tooth Fairy and I can prove it because here’s the money she left me." |
