Default How many souls are in HELL? - July 23, 2010, 23:18

The Bible book of Revelation refers to 144,000 who go to Heaven to be Kings and Priest with Jesus. Are they peopling from one religion only? Please give me a number of souls in heaven or in hell? Or be God fearing rather than God loving and don’t give me any number at all. Or tell me, I should not have an independent thought in my head.
Now, 100 billion souls have died in world history. Jehovah's Witnesses talk about the 144, 000. Do only Witnesses "go to heaven" Read Jesus words at: Matthew 5:5? There are 2000 versions of the Bible that disagrees with each and to get you Christians even hotter. That means, 99.666 billion, soul are in hell.

Please, give me a peace of lettuce or anything.

There is only one person in heaven and/or hell. That's you/me/any human that has the concept of heaven/hell.

The 144,000 is bait. Do you want to be the 144,001? Then believe in my god and offer to my cause. I will intervene on you behalf, if you really believe that I have that power.

Mmmm! I agree with you there - no evidence of either and just talk. However, from the point of view of the theists things look different. I.e.
  1. Christians teach that everyone who does not accept Jesus as lord goes to hell
  2. Muslims teach that anyone who does not follow big Mo goes to hell
Logically, therefore, we can be sure that no one get sot go to heaven - least of all JWs and the whole human race is going to hell!

According to Matthew, the most racist and stupid of the canonical evangelists, it's not enough to accept Jesus -- you also have to "do the will of his father".
Matthew 7:21 ‘Not everyone who says to me, “Lord, Lord,” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.
Matthew 7:22 On that day many will say to me, “Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many deeds of power in your name?”
Matthew 7:23 Then I will declare to them, “I never knew you; go away from me, you evildoers.”
And what is "the will of his father"? Hint: There's a big, fat book called The Old Testament.

I thought the "People of the Book" -- Christians and Jews -- were allowed inside as second class citizens, Dhimmis.

Whoops, sorry, Martin, I forgot the need to 'do the works' as well! mind, I guess the various Christian denominations will exclude each other for wrong beliefs or works so who knows.

As for second class citizens, I can't help think that the Islamic 'scholars' would hardly be happy with letting any non-Muslims in at all and judging by the wars being fought in Africa the feeling is mutual so I stick with me view - everyone is going down according the 'holly books' so it is just as well as none of this is true!

The 144,000 isn't really something you want to be a part of. These are the 12,000 from each tribe of Isreal, from Jacob's 12 children. They are the remnant flock. The ones left here upon earth during the tribulation period. They will be marked by God, protected from harm.

Satan copies this and marks his 144,000 generals. Satan is an imitator.

No man can tell you how many souls are in Heaven or hell, because no man can judge another. Only God knows their hearts.

I would like to clarify about the 144 000 issue! It is so, so clear in scripture, that I cannot understand how the JW's ever got the idea that this was the total number of people who go to heaven!

Here it is for all to see how clear it is!:

Revelation 7:4-8

4And [then] I heard how many were sealed (marked) out of every tribe of the sons of Israel: there were 144,000.

5Twelve thousand were sealed (marked) out of the tribe of Judah, 12,000 of the tribe of Reuben, 12,000 of the tribe of Gad,

6Twelve thousand of the tribe of Asher, 12,000 of the tribe of Naphtali, 12,000 of the tribe of Manasseh,

7Twelve thousand of the tribe of Simeon, 12,000 of the tribe of Levi, 12,000 of the tribe of Issachar,

8Twelve thousand of the tribe of Zebulun, 12,000 of the tribe of Joseph, 12,000 of the tribe of Benjamin.

The 144 000 are all from the Jewish tribes, Jewish evangelists that will preach the Gospel during the tribulation period, I have heard it preached. (12 000 from the 12 Jewish tribes of Israel = 144 000) (Rev 7:4-8)

The very next following verse, verse 9 goes on to say:

9After this I looked and a vast host appeared which no one could count, [gathered out] of every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages. These stood before the throne and before the Lamb; they were attired in white robes, with palm branches in their hands.

Then verse 10 shows that this great multitude which no one can count is praising God for their salvation!

10In loud voice they cried, saying, [Our] salvation is due to our God, Who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb [to Them we owe our deliverance]!

So I don't know how many souls are in hell, but I do know that there is a great multitude of souls which no one can count, which are going to be in heaven!

Ah, yes, peteresther, that is what the bible says but you have to take into account the other books god wrote including the Qur'an. After all, he wrote that one after the bible. Now read that and you will see Muslims will be enjoying a rather nasty hell for not being Muslims - indeed a great multitude who are Christian will be there.

It works the other way round too - Muslims in Christian hell and as for the other religions - all in hell except possibly Scientologists who will be able to fly to a new planet to meet Xenu.

The 144 000 are all from the Jewish tribes, Jewish evangelists that will preach the Gospel during the tribulation period, I have heard it preached. (12 000 from the 12 Jewish tribes of Israel = 144 000) (Rev 7:4-8)
You are using a defective Bible. Your text only says "sealed" once, while the Greek text says "sealed" twice in Revelation 7:4:
Revelation 7:4 kai êkousa ton arithmon tôn esphragismenôn, ekaton tesserakonta tessares chiliades, esphragismenoi ek pasês phulês uiôn Israêl.
Once you have to say "sealed" twice, the meaning becomes quite different. Look at the different translations here -- they all say something like:
Revelation 7:4 I heard the number of those who were sealed: 144,000. Those who were sealed were from every tribe of Israel: (ISV)
The only ones who are sealed are those 144.000 from the 12 Jewish tribes.

But wait, there is more, because we meet them again later on:
Revelation 14:3 and they sing a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and before the elders. No one could learn that song except the one hundred forty-four thousand who have been redeemed from the earth.
Revelation 14:4 It is these who have not defiled themselves with women, for they are virgins; these follow the Lamb wherever he goes. They have been redeemed from humankind as first fruits for God and the Lamb,
Those 144,000 are Jews who have "not defiled themselves with women" and they are the "first fruits".

So who are the "second fruits"? It's anybody's guess: Jews, who have let themselves become "defiled by women"; more virgin Jews; Jewish women; Jewish children; and maybe -- with luck -- a Gentile or two.

Let's look a bit further on. The description of the New Jerusalem:
Revelation 21:12 It has a great, high wall with twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and on the gates are inscribed the names of the twelve tribes of the Israelites;
Each gate is inscribed with the name of a Jewish tribe. I guess the Danes are supposed to enter the gate of Dan. Which gate do you think you're supposed to enter?
